Re: Started Development :)
Sounds like it's a good idea then, I guess, to recode the whole game. Use all the goodies of the new PHP eh? :) Well I am "hoping" to use all the good stuff. Its been a while since I have even touched PHP, so I am hoping that some of the +15 years I have worked on BNT has stuck LOL. I wil...

Re: Started Development :)
Fair enough.. I guess it would also be best to investigate what other popular, similar, but newer games are using that do have a lot of players. You probably already have a rough idea :) Any idea if you will start a new BNT round here at blacknova.net soon? See with browser based games you have loa...

Re: Used to play this game a lot when I was really young
My brother and I managed to get the virtual hosts back up to find that the version of phpBB I have running here doesn't support PHP 7.x, so I thought I would downloaded the very latest core version of phpBB, you would think it would be compatible with PHP 7.x wouldn't you, but noooooo it also doesn...

Re: Started Development :)
See the issue with using AJAX is that we are using Smarty Template to handle all the Graphical side of things resulting in Separate Logic and Graphics. And the actual issue is things become harder to update and change due to Smarty has already outputted its display. But like I have said I am still p...

Re: Started Development :)
Well here is the image from my 10.6" Android Tablet when I am logged into the page.
Its got no game code in it yet apart from allowing logins etc.
I also had to scroll down to get rid of the URL bar.

Re: Started Development :)
This is really most exciting news :) I guess tablets should still be okay. Maybe just add an option for larger buttons/fonts etc. so it's easier to hit on tablets. Looking forward to see some progress. Make it open-source on github so others can contribute! I don't know PHP but I can help with CSS/...

Re: Tried sending a PM, but board wouldn't let me
As for the amount of players that we had in the last game I run (2014-09-11) had 161 ships, now some of those may of been invalid and multi accounts. The Wayback/Internet Archive shows at least a couple of times in 2014 where it was relatively low (~30 players): https://web.archive.org/web/*/http:/...

Re: Tried sending a PM, but board wouldn't let me
Well I was able to send myself a PM. Try clicking on the members link at the top, then click on my name, then click on "Send private message" that works for me. As for the amount of players that we had in the last game I run (2014-09-11) had 161 ships, now some of those may of been invalid...

A lot of people that set the game up fails to read the install text file and wonder why things don't work.

Re: Sol re-purchasing
Well there is newer code on sourceforge.net which is located here . I did at one point think about GitHub, so I "might" start to use them. We did try to start the recode but due to me becoming ill which also led to disagreements here and there which sadly resulted in the halting in the dev...
